Senior Class Trip 2024

Image
The senior class trip was a success yesterday! The Lord blessed us with amazing weather, safe travels and a lot of fun fellowship.  We spent a couple hours at Sky Zone in the morning, then ate lunch downtown St. Paul at an Italian restaurant called  Cossetta . We spent the afternoon at the beach at Homestead Parklands County Park near Hudson and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for supper. Finally we drove to downtown Hudson for ice cream at Knoke's , then took a walk along the riverfront as the sun set. Many thanks to Christian & Kea Goodman, Morgan Lone, and April Sydow for chaperoning, driving, and for bringing food & games for the trip! Also, thank you, seniors, for letting your light shine everywhere you went. I really appreciated how you conducted yourself in a positive, helpful, trustworthy, and patient way throughout the day!  Here is a link to pictures from the day.  https://photos.app.goo.gl/ Djp3WQJmLZ4CT69U8   In Christ, Prof. Gullerud

WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival

Image
Last Saturday, over 900 music students from western Wisconsin came to the UWEC to be heard by specialized judges who gave ratings and verbal and written feedback.  All of the students from Immanuel performed in the Haas Fine Arts Center with the rest of the instrumentalists.  Individuals performed in classrooms and groups played in the large choir and band rooms.  All four events from from ILC (and one from Messiah School) received excellent and very good ratings. Congratulations to Emma Larson and Natalie Gurgel on their flute solos, The ILC Flute Choir--Laura Schaller, Cheyenne Wales, Natalie Gurgel, Kenzie Koenig, Leah Thompson, Emma Larson and Katy Rosendahl, and David Kelly-saxophone solo.

Tracking Lack of Track

Image
It's been a frustrating spring for our track team. After the mild winter, we had high hopes for a nice spring, and we actually got to practice outside earlier than we ever have (before spring break!). But since then, six of our eight regular season meets have been cancelled. And due to the challenges of coordinating schedules for ~10 teams and timing companies, none of these were able to be rescheduled.  But through it all, our kids have had a great attitude and remained positive. We have to remember our God has the last word on our schedule, and all things are part of His plans! Last night was supposed to be our last regular-season meet at Colfax. We just got started warming up when lightning was spotted and we had to wait about 90 minutes in their gym. Then after the delay, we were about to get started again when more storms came through and they decided to cancel the meet. We did get to enjoy some team bonding time together in the gym (along with 9 other teams), and one of the p

ILHS Banquet Weekend

Image
Well, the evening many students look forward to all year arrived this past Saturday and was another huge success - Banquet evening! Nearly all students attended the event this year, arriving outside Ingram Hall at 4:30 for the customary picture hour. No doubt if you are on Facebook you've seen pictures shared of all the young ladies in beautiful dresses and handsome young men in their suits. The event was held at The Condensery in Osseo this year, and the scrumptious meal was catered by KP Catering. Senior Awards were distributed, Trenton Wirth, Julia Mayhew, and Dr. Dan each gave speeches, and we dispersed to head back to campus after singing the Alma Mater. When they arrived in the Commons the students waited patiently in line to have their portrait taken as they entered the gym, which had been transformed into a lively pirate-themed game room; the After Banquet Party theme this year being  A Night to Treasure . More food was available, and they were invited to play games in orde

Immanuel Band Concert in the Park

Image
Shared by a thrilled attendee. "I think we found a new tradition. Yesterday band directors Kranz and Gullerud took the band and played in the park. It was an awesome day! The sky was blue with an occasional white cloud, the sun was shining, the temperature was in the low 70's, and the band was sizzling. Now I am a caveman when it comes to music, but I can tell you that the band sounded great! Evan and Audrey were highlighted on a song a piece. Evan soloed with trumpet in the middle of a tune, and Audrey, on drums, had a workout on the last song. Both did an amazing job. I am pretty sure that my wife and I would have danced to a number of those songs. Great job to all of you! And before I forget, the violins and viola before the band, it sounded really good, so thanks Gwyneth, Grant, and Anna and Director Samantha Kelly. I have always been jelly of musicians. The ability to play an entertaining tune for others to appreciate is a wonderful gift."
