Tracking Lack of Track

It's been a frustrating spring for our track team. After the mild winter, we had high hopes for a nice spring, and we actually got to practice outside earlier than we ever have (before spring break!). But since then, six of our eight regular season meets have been cancelled. And due to the challenges of coordinating schedules for ~10 teams and timing companies, none of these were able to be rescheduled.

But through it all, our kids have had a great attitude and remained positive. We have to remember our God has the last word on our schedule, and all things are part of His plans!

Last night was supposed to be our last regular-season meet at Colfax. We just got started warming up when lightning was spotted and we had to wait about 90 minutes in their gym. Then after the delay, we were about to get started again when more storms came through and they decided to cancel the meet. We did get to enjoy some team bonding time together in the gym (along with 9 other teams), and one of the parents generously bought Culver's frozen custard for everyone on the way back (which the team greatly appreciated!).

So far the weather looks good for Thursday, and we're looking forward to competing in the Dairyland Conference meet at Melrose-Mindoro HS on that day. That's where the conference champions are crowned, and the winners of each event there are given All-Conference awards.
