Friends of the Forest 

Messiah member and longtime Immanuel supporter Tom Beekman noted that our beautiful lower campus was being attacked by several invasive species of plants, like buckthorn and honeysuckle, making the woods almost impossible and downright ugly.

Tom is a doer so he organized a Friend's of the Forest event September 13-14 during which close to 30 students and adults worked to clear away much of the undesirable vegetation. The effort included cutting the brush, spraying the stumps to prevent return, dragging the cuttings to the path, and feeding it into a chipper. It was a couple long, hot, gruelling days. You can see a few ​​​pictures of the effort here.

There are close to two miles of paths in the lower campus and another event will likely be held but not this fall yet. 

A HUGE shout out to this who took time out of their weekend to help leave our campus better.

The Banquet & After Banquet

The annual spring Banquet continues to be a exciting event for Immanuel students who either bring a date or attend with their friends. Back several years ago the parents decided to create a fun, entertaining After Banquet atmosphere for the students. The amount of work the parents go through is totally unbelievable! From finding a theme, creating decorations, getting suitable playlists, finding an emcee(s), rounding up gift prizes for students, and hosting fun games for the students to play that night, the number of hours spent is in the hundreds! This year's theme was "game shows" and thanks to the Game Show Network, most of the students recognized the games. It would not be surprising if next year's theme is already decided on.  Several albums have been shared by David & Nicole Lang and Marcy & Nate Gurgel. Musical Journey #1

Prof. Schaller here. Interesting things can happen on the weekends at Immanuel. This past Saturday night I was participating in the Dunn County Northern Lights Chorus Annual Barbershop Show. I talked with college junior Joel Bernthal about the event and it went something like this:   Me:   Joel, do you want to go to a barbershop show tonight? Joel:   Alright. So we went. The first half of the show featured the chorus that I sing in doing songs about the old west:  Home on the Range, Don't Fence Me In,  etc. The second half of the program featured two professional barbershop quartets from Minnesota, Kordal Kombat and Tonality. After the show Joel and I went to the "afterglow" at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. An afterglow is the barbershop equivalent of a cast party.
