Formal Dinner 2025
If you weren't aware of this fall event at Immanuel, think Spring Banquet just at a different place and time. There will likely be many pictures of the students shared in various ways, but you don't usually get to see what goes into an event of this nature.

This year the Formal fell on November 22 but preparations began several weeks earlier as the Activities Committee debated themes, menu, table decorations, photo op spots, and entertainment for the entire student body. The faculty and staff and spouses jumped on board as the wait staff and assisted Chef Dave Rodebaugh and his wife Becky as they prepared an amazing meal to fit the "Rio" theme. Those present were treated to chicken/pineapple kabobs, mixed vegetables, rice, and pineapple upside down cake. The dishwashing crew chief, Jeff Schierenbeck, relayed that almost every plate was returned clean of food; a testament to the expertise of Dave and Becky. The entertainment included Kahoots, a scavenger hunt, creating your own sunglasses, and games. It is amazing how the group transformed their normal cafeteria setting into an amazing banquet venue. Credit for the night goes to the hard work of the Activities Committee led by the steering committee of Leah Thompson, Gabi Radichel, Sawyer Sydow, and Tanner Quade. The Banquet & After Banquet

The annual spring Banquet continues to be a exciting event for Immanuel students who either bring a date or attend with their friends. Back several years ago the parents decided to create a fun, entertaining After Banquet atmosphere for the students. The amount of work the parents go through is totally unbelievable! From finding a theme, creating decorations, getting suitable playlists, finding an emcee(s), rounding up gift prizes for students, and hosting fun games for the students to play that night, the number of hours spent is in the hundreds! This year's theme was "game shows" and thanks to the Game Show Network, most of the students recognized the games. Musical Journey #1

Prof. Schaller here. Interesting things can happen on the weekends at Immanuel. This past Saturday night I was participating in the Dunn County Northern Lights Chorus Annual Barbershop Show. I talked with college junior Joel Bernthal about the event and it went something like this:   Me:   Joel, do you want to go to a barbershop show tonight? Joel:   Alright. So we went. The first half of the show featured the chorus that I sing in doing songs about the old west:  Home on the Range, Don't Fence Me In,  etc. The second half of the program featured two professional barbershop quartets from Minnesota, Kordal Kombat and Tonality. After the show Joel and I went to the "afterglow" at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. An afterglow is the barbershop equivalent of a cast party.
