Miniclasses 2026
Almost thirty years ago, the Faculty of Immanuel and Prof. Ron Roehl in particular, found a way to give the students a break from the long Wisconsin winters by developing what has become known as Miniclasses. Rather than the regular curriculum, the students are treated to a unique variety of amazing classes to help students learn about things that don't normally cross a high school student's mind and some that do.
Each year Senior Class member volunteers organize to select the classes/presenters, work on the schedule, and get students signed up. It is amazing the large number of volunteers who take off from their normal daily schedules to share with our students, some driving two hours or more to present. Most of the faculty, staff, and part-time teachers make a point of assisting by supervising, driving, or presenting classes of their own. Without the support of soooo many people (over 65 this year), Miniclasses would not happen.
This year students were treated (oftentimes literally, think food) to over 70 classes covering things like . . .
- electrical wiring, soldering
- pies, stir fry, baking, pizza, cake and cookie decorating
- ice fishing
- origami creations, wood burning
- altering clothes, clothing design
- stage makeup
- cricut crafting device, scrapbooking, crafting with Jessi, card stamping, diamond painting
- disc golf
- board games (dominoes, Rummikub, Catan, Ticket to Ride, Cribbage)
- Crash Course on the Female System (no guys signed up for this one, hmmm?)
- soccer, flag football, floorball, badminton, Nerf Wars, archery tag, pickleball
- buy your dream home (viewing homes for sale with a professional realtor and learning what to look for)
- bowling, ice skating
- playing 500, the card game
- dog handling and language
- computer design and laser cutting
- hair care & updos
- pottery painting
- quilting, flower arranging
- curling
There are also a number of religiously themed sessions like . . .
- shadowing a pastor or teacher for half the day
- Every Young Man's Battle
- Sister Talk
- apologetics
- creation topics (Smarter Than a Box of Rocks, Y Boys Mutate X Times Faster Than Girls )
And that's just this year. A number of other classes that have been done in the past were not done this year. If you are interested you should be able to view pictures from many of the classes here.
