Yes, the NFL got underway two weeks ago, but of more interest is the start of the 2025 Immanuel Flag Football season.There has been a lot of excitement with the students at Immanuel over flag football the past few years. But this year it reached a new level, as there are a whopping 49 participants in flag football.  A combine was conducted, a draft was held, and the games have begun. 

Four teams are vying for the title this year. This year we have two new captains coming into the IFFL, one of which is Titus Radichel. Titus has a lot of experience in the league and is looking to use that experience to lead his team, the Black Falcons, to a winning season. Also coming in as a rookie captain this year is Logan Thompson. After taking a hiatus his senior year of high school to focus on basketball, Logan is set on making a strong return to the league as the captain of the Navy Wolfpack. This year we also have two returning captains. Ethan Sydow is the first. Ethan is returning for his third season as an IFFL captain. He has had a lot of success over his first three years, but he is still looking for the formula to win him his first IFFL championship which he hopes to accomplish with his Grey Rainbow Warriors. Our last captain then, is Daniel Hein. Daniel is our longest tenured captain, as he is returning for his fourth season as a captain. This year he is looking to bounce back from last year's championship loss, and hoist his second ever trophy with his new team, the Burgundy Broncos. 

Knowing that some parents may live at a distance and will not be able to attend games, this year we decided to broadcast all of our games. They will be streamed every Friday at 3:15 and 4:15 on the ILC YouTube page. There will also be weekly posts on the ILHS Flag Football Instagram page so people can stay up to date with what is going on in the league.

The Banquet & After Banquet

The annual spring Banquet continues to be a exciting event for Immanuel students who either bring a date or attend with their friends. Back several years ago the parents decided to create a fun, entertaining After Banquet atmosphere for the students. The amount of work the parents go through is totally unbelievable! From finding a theme, creating decorations, getting suitable playlists, finding an emcee(s), rounding up gift prizes for students, and hosting fun games for the students to play that night, the number of hours spent is in the hundreds! This year's theme was "game shows" and thanks to the Game Show Network, most of the students recognized the games. Musical Journey #1

Prof. Schaller here. Interesting things can happen on the weekends at Immanuel. This past Saturday night I was participating in the Dunn County Northern Lights Chorus Annual Barbershop Show. I talked with college junior Joel Bernthal about the event and it went something like this:   Me:   Joel, do you want to go to a barbershop show tonight? Joel:   Alright. So we went. The first half of the show featured the chorus that I sing in doing songs about the old west:  Home on the Range, Don't Fence Me In,  etc. The second half of the program featured two professional barbershop quartets from Minnesota, Kordal Kombat and Tonality. After the show Joel and I went to the "afterglow" at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. An afterglow is the barbershop equivalent of a cast party.
