“We’re baaaack…” Lancer Soccer 2025 When soccer came online as a team sport in 2001, the Lancers had to operate as a club team until 2018. The 2001 team included Jeff Aymond, father of Lancer freshman Nolan Aymond. After a stretch of 18 seasons, the Lancers saw an upgrade from club status to a WIAA JV team that played its first season in the fall of 2019. Unfortunately, with COVID disruptions and a drop in player participation, the Lancers managed only one more normal season of scheduled WIAA games until our current season this fall. The 2025 roster includes 14 players, who have been competitive in their first two games, both played on the road. The Lancers managed a 2-2 comeback draw at Baldwin-Woodville JV followed by a 1-0 loss to Chippewa Falls JV. This team with various levels of player experience has good potential and camaraderie, which were both evident in a recent scrimmage win against a lively group of college and alumni students. Friends of the Forest

Image
Friends of the Forest  Messiah member and longtime Immanuel supporter Tom Beekman noted that our beautiful lower campus was being attacked by several invasive species of plants, like buckthorn and honeysuckle, making the woods almost impossible and downright ugly. Tom is a doer so he organized a Friend's of the Forest event September 13-14 during which close to 30 students and adults worked to clear away much of the undesirable vegetation. The effort included cutting the brush, spraying the stumps to prevent return, dragging the cuttings to the path, and feeding it into a chipper. It was a couple long, hot, gruelling days. You can see a few pictures   of the effort here. There are close to two miles of paths in the lower campus and another event will likely be held but not this fall yet.  A HUGE shout out to this who took time out of their weekend to help leave our campus better.

Are You Ready For Some Football!

Flag Football   Yes, the NFL got underway two weeks ago, but of more interest is the start of the 2025 Immanuel Flag Football season. There has been a lot of excitement with the students at Immanuel over flag football the past few years. But this year it reached a new level, as there are a whopping 49 participants in flag football.  A combine was conducted, a draft was held, and the games have begun.  Four teams are vying for the title this year. This year we have two new captains coming into the IFFL, one of which is Titus Radichel . Titus has a lot of experience in the league and is looking to use that experience to lead his team, the Black Falcons , to a winning season. Also coming in as a rookie captain this year is Logan Thompson . After taking a hiatus his senior year of high school to focus on basketball, Logan is set on making a strong return to the league as the captain of the Navy Wolfpack . This year we also have two returning captains. Ethan Sydow is the first...
